It Never Ends

We looked last month at the terrifying incidents all over the world of violence strife and the killing of innocent people.  This month the carnage continues with countless acres of land and buildings burning up in uncontrolled wildfires are throughout the west and just outside several major cities.  We hear every day of more and more outrageous claims of sexual harassment with so many celebrities as well as many common people.  There seems to be no respect for anyone anywhere in society today.

While all this is true we need to look at the many many stories of good that people are doing with all this going on.  Remember that good news does not sell.  That is only part of the reason.  There is another big reason that the bad is glorified and the good ignored.  This is not just my opinion, let’s look at what God says about this.

Genesis 6:5-7 (NASB)
5  Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6  The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
7  The LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them."

 Genesis 6:11-12 (NASB)
11  Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12  God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.

Seems like things haven’t changed a whole lot.  How can this be since God Himself created man and saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:31 (NASB)
31  God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Wait a minute.  Have I really lost it or is there much more to the story.  We want to forget what happened in Genesis chapter 3 but this is the entire reason for the evil that is in the world today and was back then also.

Genesis 3:1-7 (NASB)
1  Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"
2  The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
3  but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'"
4  The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!
5  "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6  When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
7  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

From this moment forward all of mankind was doomed to live out the curses that God laid out for man and our arch rival Satan.  As we all know even the flood that destroyed everything on the earth including all but 8 people was not sufficient to totally take care of this evil.  WHAT, are you actually saying that there is no answer for all this evil and it will continue to get worse and God did not do anything to fix it?.  As the apostle Paul would say, “God forbid”.

This brings us to some 2000 years ago in a little town that was not even counted as anything more than a small village and in all places a feeding trough.  This is where God’s plan to completely destroy all evil began and 33 years later became perfected.  Confused, let me help you out.  The answer is Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.  He was born and infant of a virgin and was raised the son of a poor carpenter.  He did not even start his ministry until the age of 30 and only lived for 3 more years.  How can this man make such a difference as to start the process of ending all evil?  This is a mystery that has confounded many throughout all time.  Let me help you unlock this mystery.

According to Romans chapter 3 all men have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.  We have a debt that we could never repay to God even if we lived thousands of years.  We need to have someone pay this debt.  Enter our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He can pay our debt as the perfect sacrifice to cover the debt.  He had to be fully man hence the birth and also remain fully God in the process.  He had to live a sinless life that we cannot live even though he was tempted in every way we are.  He had to die a brutal horrible death to be able to pay our debt.  He had to rise again from the dead to buy our eternal life.  He has offered this gift to us as payment to extinguish our debt.  Oh but there is still one thing that has to be done.  We must accept this gift before it becomes sufficient to pay our debt.

Remember this gift is free to all who will accept it.  He has purchased our way to eternal life in heaven but we must take hold of it.  This gift does require us to change our way of life but remember we were on our way to eternal life in hell until we accepted this gift

If God has touched your heart with this message of the gift that came into the world some 2000 years ago then talk with your pastor or contact us to find out how we can make this wonderful first Christmas gift our own.  Scripture is very clear that any who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:9-13 (NASB)
9  that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
12  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

Make sure you call on Him today as not one of us is promised any more time on this earth.  Make sure you will be with Him in eternity.  CALL ON HIM NOW

Next month we will continue this theme of our calling are how can we stand against our enemy.
